Evan C. Gansl, JD, LLM, CLU, ChFC, CASL, AEP*, is an attorney in Syosset, New York, who concentrates his practice in estate planning, estate administration, elder law and special needs planning.

Throughout his career, Evan has gravitated towards issues concerning estate planning and elder law. After completing his legal studies, he was an associate at a well-respected Long Island law firm focusing in estate planning, estate administration and taxation. Eventually, he was recruited as an insurance and financial services adviser with John Hancock Financial Services. While at John Hancock, Evan focused on estate conservation and long-term care planning, which expanded his awareness and appreciation for the unique issues confronting seniors. After several years as a successful financial adviser, Evan realized that he would obtain the greatest personal and professional satisfaction by combining the different aspects of his professional background and return to the practice of law as an estate planning and elder law attorney. A common thread throughout his career has been the enjoyment he has received by helping his clients and developing long-term relationships with them.

Evan has more than twenty years combined experience in estate planning and administration as well as the legal and financial affairs of seniors. Evan earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting, cum laude from Muhlenberg College (1984) as a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society for Economics. He received his law degree from Duke University School of Law (1987) and attained his Masters of Law in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center (1989).

In addition, Evan has been awarded the Accredited Estate Planner* (AEP) professional designation, a graduate level concentration in estate planning, awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. Evan has also earned the designations, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) from the American College, a non-profit educational institution which provides the highest level of academic accreditation for financial services professionals.

Evan is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law, Tax and Trusts and Estates Sections as well as the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section. He also belongs to the Nassau County Bar Association’s Tax, Elder Law and Surrogate’s Court Practice Committees. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Councils of New York City and Nassau County. In addition, he is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Evan is the current vice-president, and the membership chair of the Nassau County chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Evan lives in Jericho, New York with his wife, Francie and his two children, Danielle and Harrison. Evan is an avid tennis player and enjoys working out, movies, reading and spending time with his family.
