Mr. Ostrow, a senior member of Schlissel Ostrow Karabatos, PLLC, has been practicing exclusively in the area of matrimonial and family law since he graduated with honors from Cornell Law School, where he was elected Associate Editor in Chief of the prestigious Cornell Law Review. He was also elected to Cornell Law School’s Honor Society, the Order of the Coif. Mike received his undergraduate degree from Alfred University. Always a leader, Mike has been President of the 6,000 member Nassau County Bar Association (“NCBA”). Mike has also been President of both the national organization and New York chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (“AAML”). He is one of the founders of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers, one of only 100 such lawyers to be elected a Diplomate. Mike also served as chairman of the Family Law section of the New York State Bar Association, where he also served for many years as a member of its executive committee. He is a fellow of the AAML. He is also a member of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association and is a member of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association where he served as Chairman and has served for many years as a member of the Executive Committee. He has also chaired numerous committees of the AAML and the NCBA.

Mike has also lectured extensively in the field of matrimonial and family law at the Practicing Law Institute and was a member of the faculty of the Advanced Trial Institute of Hofstra Law School as well as having lectured for the New York State Bar Association and other organizations. He has tried over 200 matrimonial and family law cases throughout the New York Metropolitan area.

Mike has also been President of the Nassau County Bar Association and chaired the Matrimonial and Family Law Committee as well as the Judiciary Screening Committee. Mike has been named in all editions of Best Lawyers in America and is listed in Who’s Who in American Law.

Mike and his long time friends Elena Karabatos and Steve Schlissel merged their practices in August 2000.
