Steven Menaker has more than thirty-five years of trial experience in civil (professional malpractice, construction, business and employment) and criminal litigation before the State and Federal Courts. Before joining Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, PC, Steven was in private practice in Jersey City and, before that, served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of Kings County, New York as Deputy Chief – Investigations Bureau, Deputy Chief – Criminal Courts Bureau and as Trial Assistant – Homicide Bureau.
Steven holds the distinction of being designated by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney and as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney. For the past several years, he has been named by New Jersey Monthly Magazine as a New Jersey Super Lawyer® in General Litigation.
Steven served on the New Jersey District VI Ethics Committee (DEC) as Chair and Vice-Chair. After his service, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Special Ethics Master in disciplinary proceedings. Mr. Menaker presently serves on the Ethics Diversionary Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is a speaker at the Committee’s biannual Ethics Diversionary Program. He also serves as Secretary of the Committee on Professionalism of the Hudson County Bar Association. In January 2009, Steven was appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey to serve on the Advisory Committee on Professional Ethics. Martindale-Hubbell has also awarded its highest peer review rating to Steven for ethical standards and legal ability. A Martindale-Hubbell AV rating is a significant accomplishment - a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.
