Thompson & Knight opened its New York office in 2005, achieving focused strategic growth compatible with its existing culture and professional values. The New York office has a broad range of energy, corporate, finance, litigation, and international arbitration experience and continues to expand and add to both its depth and breadth of expertise.
Attorneys in our New York office have been involved in a wide range of complicated transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, project and private finance, securitization and structured finance and debt restructurings, and work-outs, with particular strength in energy-related projects (particularly oil and liquefied natural gas projects), Latin America, Japan, and telecommunications. Our clients include banks, hedge funds, insurance companies, vendors, pension fund managers, savings and loan associations, factoring companies, and other lenders located around the world. We also represent borrowers, sponsors, and project companies in many U.S. and multinational industries both domestically and overseas.
In addition, Thompson & Knight has conducted an extensive trial practice in state and federal courts throughout the U.S. as well as international venues and alternative dispute resolution forums. Our lawyers combine keen analysis, careful preparation, practical skills, and comprehensive experience to represent clients effectively before judges, juries, arbitrators, and moderators. We work resolutely to resolve the issues in dispute and achieve the commercial or personal objectives of our clients.
Our New York office also counsels oil, gas, and energy industry clients - those who explore, develop, produce, store, market, transport, and process energy resources. Our practice is active and comprehensive, as Thompson & Knight attorneys represent clients in transactions and resolve disputes in dozens of countries around the world. Our oil, gas, and energy clients include multinational and independent oil and gas companies, host government oil and gas companies, large utilities, private power plants, energy industry service giants, refineries, petrochemical companies, financial institutions, and multinational drilling contractors and construction companies.
Thompson & Knight presently represents several clients with pending LNG projects. These representations are for both gas producers and LNG sellers, as well as LNG buyers with receiving terminal and re-gasification facilities.
